Do you want to get your driver's license, but there's no car available? You certainly don't have to buy one, you can use cambio for this. You can become a driver's licence member and subscribe for the driving lesson rate. You make reservations for one of our driver lesson cars and you can hit the road!
Please note: our driving lesson cars have a manual gearbox. If you want to learn to drive an automatic, you can only go to Malines.
How does it work?
- You can find our driving lesson cars in Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Louvain, Malines and Saint-Nicolas.
- You sign up as a student via the button below
- Make your reservation and learn how to hit the road!
As a student you have to be 18 years old and you must have followed at least 6 hours of driving lessons at a recognized driving school (certificate required as proof). Young people with a provisional driving license of 18 months and a certificate of competence (after 20 hours of driving lessons) can also use the car.
Attention: you have to sign up as a student under a new account. You can't subscribe as a new member under the account of your family members.
The one-time activation fee is €35, and during your subscription you pay a mandatory financial deposit of €250. You pay €17 per hour which includes everything (fuel, insurance, taxes, ...). You don't have to pay a monthly fee or a kilometre rate, as in our other formulas.
Attention: between 00am and 6am it will cost you €50 per hour to use our driving lesson car, 'cause we'd like to advise you not to drive at night. This formula is intended to prepare you for your practical driving test. Driving at night is not recommended.
Are you planning your practical driving test with one of our driving lesson cars? Please contact our customer service by email after you have reserved the car for your driving test, with your customer number, the car you have reserved and the specific date of your reservation. This way we can do our best to give this cambio an extra check-up, so that the car is ready for your driving test.

FAQ
Do I always have to bring along a supervisor?
This depends on the provisional driving license you have in your pocket. With one model, a supervisor is mandatory, with the other it is not. You can drive without an instructor if you have obtained your 18-month driving license and followed 20 hours of driving lessons at a recognized driving school.
Does my supervisor have to be a member of cambio or become a member of cambio?
No, your driving lesson supervisor does not have to be a cambio user. You sign up with cambio as a student and your supervisor can drive without registering. However, this is only allowed as long as you are always in the car. Your attendant is not allowed to drive the cambio car when you are not in the car. You remain responsible for the car.
My parent is teaching me how to drive and is already a cambio member. Can my parent teach me how to drive under his/her account?
No, as a student you must have your own account and reserve a driving lessons car in your own name. A cambio member may never hand over the wheel to someone who doesn't have a drivers license.
Is there an L in the car? Is there an extra rearview mirror in the car?
This car has an L and an extra rearview mirror for the attendant. Unfortunately, anything that "hangs loose" can disappear. That is why we recommend that you always provide an 'L' sticker and an extra mirror as we cannot guarantee. Safety first!
Are the driving lessons equipped with pedals on the side of the supervisor?
No, our training cars are not equipped with pedals on the side of the supervisor. These cars are also used by our other users, so extra pedals are not possible.
Is the driving lesson car an automatic?
Most of our driving lessons are not automatics. We do have one in Mechelen, an electric one. Please note: anyone who takes his driving test with a car with an automatic gearbox will receive a restriction in his driver's license. That is why most driving lessons have a manual gearbox.
Can I go abroad with the driving lesson car?
No. Belgian provisional driving licenses are only valid in Belgium.
I did only a short drive away. Do I need to refuel?
You only need to refuel if the car has less than 1/4 of fuel left when you return it, one of our cambio rules. This way the next user can leave smoothly!
I have reached my limit and now I can't make a reservation anymore. What to do?
If you have reached your limit, you must pay your future reservations in advance (1 hour = €15). Please contact customer service for this.
Can I use the cambio driving lesson car for my driving test?
Of course! Book it on time so that you can start the exam without stress. Extra tip: you're completely safe if you check if you find all the necessary documents in the car.
What if you have an accident with damage?
In case of damage or an accident in which you're the cause, you pay a maximum deductible of € 1000. With a driving lesson car, you cannot order a safety pack.
I got my drivers licence! Can I continue to drive with Cambio?
First of all: congratulations! Of course you can continue driving with cambio. If you are younger than 25, you can switch to the Campus rate. If you are 25 or older, you can register for the Start, Bonus or Comfort rate. You can drive a lot cheaper within these rates. You can also add a Safety Pack and now the entire fleet is available.
